Peanut Butter Crispy Treats
See Recipe Below
Anyone who knows Rent-a-Dad and me knows that we have so many made up words (and stolen made up words) that we have our own language. The term “crack” to us is any food item that we can not live without that is too good to ever be healthy for us. Rent-a-Dad lovingly refers to this recipe as “Crack Treats”. When he found out I made a batch of these up yesterday he said “I may just have to fake a health issue and come home for the entire pan”. Truth is if he co-workers found out I made these they might have just willingly sent him home as long as he promised to also bring back a dozen pans for them as well.
Peanut Butter Crispy Treats
3 tablespoons creamy peanut butter
40 regular sized marshmallows
6 cups of Crispy Rice Cereal
1 4-ounce box of Reese’s Pieces
½ to 1 cup of chocolate chips
9 x 12 Rectangular baking pan (buttered/greased)
Measure out the 6 cups of rice crispy cereal in a bowl of your choosing (I like a large metal bowl personally).
With margarine, grease your rectangular baking pan and a large wooden spoon. Set aside. I use spray butter as it’s a nice flavor and easy to apply.
In a large microwave safe bowl (I use a ceramic mixing bowl) measure out 40 regular sized marshmallows (there about… I cheat and put in 44 or 45) and 3 tablespoons of peanut butter. Heat in the microwave for about 1 to 1 ½ minutes until the peanut butter looks shiny and is sinking into the now extra fluffy melty marshmallows. Stir the marshmallow and peanut butter together.
Add to the dry ingredients. If the spoon proves difficult get your hands dirty and mix the ingredients together. Once the marshmallows are spread through the dry mixture (so the marshmallow mixture is a bit cooler) add the Reese’s Pieces and chocolate chips. Mix until the Reese’s Pieces and chocolate chips are evenly dispersed in the marshmallow crispy mixture.
Take mixture and spread evenly into the greased rectangular baking pan.
Wait 5 to 10 minutes until the mixture is cool and set. Cut and enjoy! Honestly… who can wait that long? Dig in and enjoy!!!!!!
